MeteoLux forecasters participate in ECSS 2025

Three forecasters from MeteoLux attended the European Conference on Severe Storms (ECSS) 2025, held in Utrecht, the Netherlands, from 17 to 21 November. The conference brought together leading experts from around the world to exchange knowledge on severe convective storms and their impacts, with particular attention to the European context.

The MeteoLux delegation focused on advances in thunderstorm forecasting and nowcasting, sharing operational experiences from Luxembourg and exploring new methodological approaches. Their participation reflects MeteoLux’s commitment to strengthening early warning capabilities and improving the accuracy and timeliness of thunderstorm warnings, especially with regard to associated hazards such as hail, flash floods, tornadoes, and severe winds.

The broad range of presentations and poster sessions enabled the forecasters to acquire valuable insights that will contribute to the continuous improvement of MeteoLux’s operational forecasting, thereby enhancing preparedness in case of severe convective weather.
