In the scope of ANA’s close cooperation with Belgocontrol in matters of aeronautical and meteorological information our two ANSPs now offer a common web-based briefing tool for all flights to/from Luxembourg and Belgium.
This service is accessible via (free) registration on the Belgocontrol website (www.belgocontrol.be). Pilots can file their flight plans (only flights to/from Luxembourg and/or Belgium) and retrieve a pre-flight information bulletin (PIB) by simply entering their flight’s callsign as well as access complete meteorological information for their flight.
Besides NOTAM (NOtice To AirMen) these PIB also offer meteorological messages. PIB can be filtered according to flight rules, flight levels and navigation warnings. They may also include SNOWTAM and military NOTAM. Meteorological messages include METAR (METeorological Aerodrome Report), TAF (Terminal Aerodrome Forecast) and SIGMET (SIGnificant METeorological phenomena) for the whole flight route as well as aeronautical charts, including significant weather phenomena (SIGWX), upper wind and temperature. Radar and satellite imagery of the flight region can also be retrieved by the pilots. Furthermore there are different forecast bulletins available (General Forecast, Ballooning Bulletin and Medium Range Forecast).
Similarly, ANA AIS can retrieve PIB for their customers by entering the callsign of any flight to/from Luxembourg and/or Belgium and ANA MET has access to all MET information. Both can also use the AIM-Meteo Briefing Tool as backup system to provide flight briefing documentation to pilots.
